Showdown Week…Standard Bearer and Runningmate?

In a day when history could be made press releases and press stories are flying around fast and furious. 

First:  AP is reporting that Sen. Barack Obama will have the requisite number of delegates tonight to claim the nomination by their count of undecided superdelegates set to announce and projected delegate distribution from the Montana and South Dakota primaries today.   NBC News has Obama only 27.5 delegates away.  

Second:  AP is reporting that Sen. Hillary Clinton is open to the Vice Presidential slot and has just told New York lawmakers that fact but won’t quit race tonight.   

Third: Former President Jimmy Carter will endorse Obama this evening.  Carter is a superdelegate.
