McCain and GOP on Race

Presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain talks about how he will reach out to Black voters, how he will repair the public school system and how he’ll run against Sen. Barack Obama in fall in a wide ranging interview in Essence magazine.  

Also in today’s Politico there is a fascinating article about how the GOP has struggled to recruit minority candidates despite promises and outreach by the party:

“At a time when Democrats are poised to knock down a historic racial barrier with their presidential nominee, the GOP is fielding only a handful of minority candidates for Congress or statehouses — none of whom seem to have a prayer of victory…”
